This year has been crazy busy and I can’t believe it’s almost Christmas already. I thought it was time to post a small update because I know a few people are waiting excitedly for the next installment of The Miscreant.

Book 3, The Final Realm, is being plotted and worked on behind the scenes. It’s taking me a long time, not because of lack of time or motivation, writer’s block, or anything like that. Of all things, the reason for my stall is anger.

After leaving my abusive marriage over a year ago, every time I’ve sat down to write, my anger for how I was treated always bubbled to the surface and severely impacted my words. I tried to channel this into a new story, my story, but it’s still too fresh to put on paper. Instead, I threw myself into my final year of uni and focused on getting through it so I can graduate. I’ve been working on plotting and back story in between, and a lot of my planning process involves thinking. Not a day goes by that I don’t just think about The Miscreant, Nika, and the upcoming climax of the story.

I’m pleased to say I’ve now finished uni and will be graduating next year. This means I’ve been free to get back into the story and get to work. I’ve been re-reading The Lowest Realm and doing a (hopefully) final tweak to ensure I haven’t left any errors…like Lana appearing somewhere she shouldn’t…and fixing a few things that were missed by my editor.

And then there were the recent events of November 6th that, although I’m Australian, have left me reeling and feeling even more anger. To hear about the new dangers my trans and queer friends are now having to face, as well as the disgusting misogyny going on over there, has left me questioning my work and asking myself why I even bother.

But I have to keep going, I have to keep writing and sharing queer stories. Will they be banned in US? Probably. But this post is already a lot more political than I’d like and I don’t have enough spoons just yet. So I will keep writing and doing what I love, with a renewed zeal of fuck the patriarchy.

I don’t have an estimated release date for The Final Realm, but rest assured I will post updates as I go. My social media sites have been dormant for a while but I am still on them daily so please feel free to interact with me. Comment on a post or DM a hello, let me know you’re around. Please note that I’ve deleted my Twitter so activity is limited to Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok.

In final news, I’ve been working on a new range of Pin Chickens and will be launching them around Feb in time for Pride and Mardi Gras 2025. I won’t be flying in for Fair Day as the risk of being stalked and confronted by my abuser are too high.
